First, open Edraw Max, then point to "New", then choose "Engineering". As you can see, there are lots of engineering diagram templates in Edraw Max.

When you click the engineering diagram templates, you may find that there are examples at the lower part of the software. Double click the example, then you will open it. You may customize and edit the example as you like, which will definitely save you plenty of time.

Create Engineering Diagram - Basic Electrical Diagram

You may drag and drop the electrical symbols you need from the library which is on the left of the canvas. For drawing basic electrical diagram, we have basic electrical symbols, qualifying symbols, semiconductor devices, switches and relays, transmission path symbols.

There is something you should pay attention to when you draw the basic electrical diagram. For example, when you drag and drop cell symbol on the drawing page, you may find a floating button from which you can choose to show or hide the upper right part of the cell shape .

When you use multine-line bus shape, you will note that there is a floating button on the upper right of the shape.

Click it, a small window will appear. You may change the lines as you like.

Also, when you use the line/cable shape, you can find a floating button on the upper right of the shape.

Click it, you can set the line/cable type as you like.

Moreover, when you drop shapes on the drawing page, you can use the blue smart snapline to align them.

Last but not least, when connect two shapes, you need drag from a connection point on the first shape to a connection point on the second shape. The connector endpoints turn red when the shapes are connected.

Create Engineering Diagram - Circuits and Logic Diagram

When drawing circuits and logic diagram, you can simply drag and drop the circuits and logic symbols you like on the drawing page. When you use the "Terminal 3-phase" symbol, right click the shape on the drawing page, you will see a small window from which you can change the shape data.

Click the shape data, you can see a small window appear from which you can change the relevant data.

Last but not least, there are other two symbos floating buttons you should pay attention to when drawing circuits and logic diagram: inware flow symbol and optical cable symbol.

Create Engineering Diagram - Industrial Control Systems Diagram

When drawing industrial control systems diagram, you need to pay attention that whether some symbols have floating buttons. If they do have such buttons, you can simply change some data to get the shape you want.

When you drag and drop "step motor" shape on the drawing page, you will see the floating button on the upper right of the shape.

When drawing piping and instrumentation diagram, you need to pay attention that whether some symbols have floating buttons. If they do have buttons, you can simply change some data to get the shape you want. For example, when you use the screw pump symbols and rotary compressor symbols, if you notice that they have floating buttons, it will be of great convenience when drawing the piping and instrumentation diagram.
